Apple’s iOS might be top smartphone OS in the U.S. in terms of marketshare, but Android is gaining, especially among new smartphone buyers.
The latest smartphone market share survey from Nielsen looks at data from November 2010. This data shows the iPhone has retained pole position in overall smartphone marketshare in the U.S. with an estimated 28.6% of the market.

A January 2011 article on 4G conducted by Neilson indicates that over half of the US either has never heard of 4G or does not understand it. This could lead to major implications for Advertising Companies and their intentions to invest in advertising (ie high res video) in the 4G market.

Verizon is supposedly finally getting the iPhone. Assuming all the rumors are correct, this is one the worst kept secrets in a long-time. Having a version of the iPhone, should greatly expand Verizon's already expansive customer base. The newcomers, however, will likely come in waves as their contracts with other carriers expire, meaning that the additional data-demand will build up gradually.

Mobile Real Estate LLC launched a mobile marketing solution for the Real Estate Market. It allows potential buyers to find listings, look up property information, and it also has a GPS feature to find homes. Potential clients are texted a listing and then they can access a mobile website to find out more information, from their phone. This sounds like a tool I would use. When searching for the next house to buy I often drive to a house to look at it I will see another one along the way. If I could see a house and then automatically receive the listing as I drove buy, I would find great value in that service.

Mobile advertising is a must for brands who want to reach the Indian market. The market in India has grown by 1 billion impressions in 90 days. This 22 percent growth makes it the largest market in the Asia-Pacific region.
The reason is the improving ad ecosystem: 3G network infrastructure improvements with major publishers bringing media to mobiles and brands discovering the power of the advertising.
Nokia is still the has the largest marketshare in India, with Android and iPhone a mere .4 percent share.
Mobile marketing: 32% use phone for shopping
According ForeSee Results' study, A third of consumers have used their mobile phones to access a retailer's website, and 32% of the surveyed expressed future retail purposes by mobile. However, only 7% of the retailers had a mobile marketing strategy in place for non-iPhone users, while most users in the UK having a different smartphone.
