Score’s mobile gamble paying off
The Score TV network has announced they will beef up their international advertising force and they will do so using applications for mobile devices like the Blackberry, IPhone and IPad. It’s currently the most popular free sports application for the Blackberry. They said their biggest target areas are the U.S., U.K., Asia and most of Europe. The company itself is known for airing sports highlights, scores and some live events. They said they would like to take the success they’ve had in North America and make it more international.

Groupon CEO, Andrew Mason has issues an apology to Japanese customers for failing to deliver a particular bargain. The site operates by offering consumers a bargain at a local business, but the deal is only valid if enough people purchase the coupon. The bargain in question was a traditional Japanese New Year's meal, but many arrived late or in poor condition as the restaurant that was providing the meal was overwhelmed by the volume of orders. The site's rapid growth into new international markets has come with some difficulties as illustrated by this incident. The company recently secured a $1 billion investment to fund such growth. The Chicago based company was started two years ago, and has become one of the internet's fastest growing sites of all time.

Scott's Lawn Care - Success with Mobile Marketing
Think mobile marketing is just for high-tech folks or the teen/twentysomething crowd? Then get off my lawn, whippersnapper!
Scott's partnered with Major League Baseball to conduct a baseball-themed mobile campaign in ballparks. This is another great example of integrating mobile tools with traditional marketing.
Group buying mega-site Groupon never ceases to amaze, as one of its latest mobile coupon deals has shattered records and turned even more focus to the power of mobile coupons.
In what’s nothing short of an amazing campaign, Groupon announced recently that a recent Groupon for a fast food restaurant in Hong Kong helped sell over 70,000 hamburgers in less than 72 hours — 40,000 of which were sold in the first 24 hours following the initial offer.

Mobile Advertising: 3rd Space Launches Partnership With China’s CCTV
China has the largest mobile market, with 850 million users plus. To fill this void, China’s national broadcaster and a mobile video marketing company have launched a partnership.
The partnership highlights certain trends in China: the WAP portal is still strong, there is strong growth and demand for apps, chinese consumers are more accepting of mobile internet than their western counterparts.
Also interesting, the ads will be in both English and Chinese.
